He authored over a dozen textbooks on advertising and advertising history including and created a Department of Advertising and Marketing at NYU. Born in Naugatuck, Connecticut in 1884, George Burton Hotchkiss served as a New York University School of Commerce faculty member for over 40 years and pioneered advertising education in America. Hotchkiss graduated from Yale as an English major with a B.A. in 1905 and an M.A. in 1906.
